( it's morning. they should get up. there's animals that depend on them, and a.b.a as well.


but lily does not. she only turns to flop an arm across his chest, blanket bunched up to her chin. )

[And Cacao still sleeps like the dead. If the dead snored softly. His hair tangled with hers, and his remaining arm thrown over his eyes. He is warm, and comfortable, and as long as he slept he didn't have to think about the horrors he saw so recently]

( are they tangled together? that could... cause a problem. ...

she should start breakfast. something light but healthy. check on oreo, and the rabbits, and the stoat- she should do a lot of things.

but vanilla is not there to do them with her.

she just curls into cacao even more, and hopes he can sleep through the soft hitches in her breath- how strange, to cry when you're already out of tears. )

[Unfortunately for her (or maybe not) Cacao always sleeps lightly even when exhausted. So her soft cries start to make him stir.]

Please, go back to sleep. You need your rest.

( like he could with how her voice is clearly cracking, wavering. despite herself, she shifts slightly, clutching the fabric of the blanket draped across them. )

[he turns slightly so they are face to face (or well, face to pecs, but regardless)]

Cacao... ... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you.

( she rubs her eyes even though they're still dry, and- oh, that is his chest right in her face. ...

she just kinda presses into him in a one-armed hug. the world is cold and hard. cacao is warm. )
